In the first Figure major compounds extracted from Stevia leaves in hot water are shown; the isolated peak was identified as stevioside. In the second Figure major compounds extracted from Stevia leaves by using Extractor Naviglio and cold water are shown; the extraction was protracted for 24 hours. In the third Figure the major compound stevioside extracted from stevia leaves by using Extractor Naviglio is shown; the extraction was protracted for 60 min.

Comments

These HPLC chromatograms were obtained reverse phase column C18 by using a water-acetonitrile gradient; detection was made by using a DAD and the best wavelenght was 220 nm.

Discovery

These HPLC chromatograms show that the extraction by using cold water and Extractor Naviglio for an hour time extraction gives the best result for the recovery of steviosdie from stevia leaves.
